Mr Mills could take a horse to water AND teach it to drink. After my tuition began with Matthew, I found that both my technique and musicality improved at a much quicker rate than I had done with previous teachers. The way Matthew taught me was based on my own ability and needs and focussed on this to help me develop as a musician, rather than being put on a teaching conveyor belt as it felt I had done with previous teachers. Matthew discovered the best ways that I learn which really helped me develop much more than I had previously done. By really engaging with me, Matthew made lessons very enjoyable and so I found myself much more motivated than I ever had done before with previous piano tutors. Mr Mills has taught me GCSE Chemistry for two terms and has helped me improve so much. I went from a U grade in my mock to a B in my exam! He makes me understand it better than my teacher at school; also I dont find it boring to learn when Mr Mills teaches me! The one down side is his hair...(Katie Booth)
Ive been taught by Mr Mills for a couple of years now, hes done more for me in that time than i could have learnt from anyone else in a life time. He;s helped me with school, singing and piano in a way where after each lesson i can see how much progress i have made. I have had some many opportunities and been involved in numerous concerts and events and all because of Mr Mills enthusiasm and passion for music. I thought that playing piano was just a tiny little thing that would get me nowhere in my crazy hectic life, but I was wrong! Matt showed me that I was better at music than I thought I was. He planned lessons completely around what I enjoyed listening/playing to, and also taught me about other genres of music that I thought I would never enjoy. Thanks to Matt, I find it impossible to not like a piece of music (unless it's terrible)! Heck- I'm enjoying Grade 8! I have also realized my abilites, and I am definetely carrying on with music and hope go into it as a future. Every aspect of music gets taught and I'm flying through Music GCSE! (Ben McGettigan)

Whenever I have a lesson with Matt it's like I'm not shy to do what I want! The teaching structure he uses is really amazing. The best thing about it is that you do loads of work and practical but you still have fun doing it. 1 hour music lessons with him at school go by like 10 minute. So when I have the half-an hour ones at his house, it goes by in no time (that is the only downside, and it's not that bad .) Obviously the first lesson I had with him I was very shy and I couldn't stop laughing but he soon makes you feel welcomed! When I learn a new piece I mostly get to perform it in one of his concerts which are hilarious. The three words to describe Matt are: Spectacularly Amazingly Mind-Boggling! EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED! Matthew has been teaching me since I was 7 years old (that's 4 years now). He gives me so much confidence when I'm playing the piano and it's never boring. Matthew knows my ability and how I like to play. Lessons with Matthew are fun, enjoyable and serious at the same time.
